, Hot Moorish Baths, Fresh Air and Sunshine
Welcome to our short break for ladies.
This short break is designed for your relaxation.
Cortijo Sierra Castril, which is located on the edge of the beautiful Sierra Castril Natural Park in Andalucia and surrounded by olive and almond groves, is an ideal place to relax in and, for a few days at least, shed the stresses of modern-day living. In this rural setting, where often the only sounds to be heard are birds and the tinkling of sheep and goat bells as the shepherds move their flocks through the mountains, you can take life at a slower pace: relax in the warmth of the sun, participate in our relaxation activities, Aromatherapy, Yoga, Moorish Baths, a little gentle walking (a pair of trainer-type shoes is necessary for this), or just ‘do your own thing’, the choice is yours! Soak up the atmosphere of the true Spain, unspoilt by tourism, and at the end of the day enjoy good, home-cooked food (vegetarians catered for) and a glass of good wine.
The aim of this short break is for you to leave feeling relaxed and refreshed
You will be collected from the airport and taken via a scenic route from Granada to Cortijo Sierra Castril. After settling in, lunch will be served. In the afternoon a stroll down to the near-by town of Castril, a typical, unspoilt, Andalucian hill town, where you can visit the cafe-bars or explore the old, narrow streets, is recommended. Alternatively, you can take a quiet stroll along the many tracks that surround the cortijo, or indulge in the traditional Spanish siesta! The evening meal will be at 8.30 pm.
Breakfast will be at 9 am. After breakfast you will have the opportunity to visit the nearby town of Huescar, where you can stroll through the large outdoor market that takes place every Thursday morning. This is not a tourist market; it is one of the traditional markets we all use to buy our veggies and some of our clothes and household goods, too. We will also visit a local cafe where you can sample the traditional morning snack of ‘churros y chocolaté’.
We will return to the corijo for lunch and after lunch there will be time to relax in the warm Spanish sunshine and enjoy the tranquil pace of Anadalucian life before the yoga session begins at 5.30 pm. Jane Holstead, a highly qualified and experienced yoga teacher will lead this session. After an introduction, you will participate in gentle yoga exercises, followed by relaxation. The evening meal will be at 8.30 pm.
Breakfast will be at 9 am and after breakfast we will visit the Moorish Baths in the nearby town of Baza (towels and gowns are provided but you will need a swimsuit,). Here you can enjoy the hot baths and steam rooms in a traditional Moorish cave setting. Refreshments and lunch will be taken here. A stroll round Baza will follow.
The evening meal at the cortijo will be a traditional Spanish meal, cooked by a local lady. You are welcome to join in the making of this meal if you wish, or you can sit back and enjoy watching local, traditional cooking techniques.
Breakfast will be at 9.30 am. Today is our aromatherapy day, and the sessions will be lead by Liz Allen, a clinical aromatherapist who has been teaching aromatherapy for 7 years. The morning session will begin at 11.00 am. This session will give an over-view of aromatherapy. Lunch will be served 1.30 pm and following lunch there will be an aromatherapy workshop session, in which you will have the opportunity to make some aromatherapy products. 1 – 1 massage treatments (aromatherapy, reiki and head massage) can also be arranged with Liz, the cost of which is not included in the holiday price. The evening meal will be at 8.00 pm.
Breakfast will be at 9.30 am and after breakfast we will again visit Castril, but this time we will walk through the famous Castril Gorge. From Castril we will move on to a local restaurant, which overlooks one of our beautiful lakes, where lunch will be taken. After lunch we will return to the cortijo from where, in the late afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
